Nathan is a multi-skilled Sound Recordist and versatile Cinematographer, and now increasingly a Self-shooting Producer/Director and with a confident editorial judgement and strong technical command. As well as recording sound and lensing documentaries, Nathan recently collaborated with Director Matt Hill to Shoot, Produce & Direct a BBC Imagine about the Artist Marc Quinn, and is currently Executive Producer and Editor of a BFI/BBC/Film London Microwave Scheme feature film.
Hugely experienced after almost two decades professional broadcast practise on locations around the world, his extensive skillset is rooted in Production where he began his career as a Researcher, then Self-Shooting Associate Producer. Refining his camera skills, Nathan was a Camera Assistant for 6-years before progressing to documentary Cinematographer. It was also while he was a Camera Assistant in far-flung locations that his enthusiasm for Recording Sound became sought after by Productions.
Nathan’s passion, dedication, and hunger for all aspects of filmmaking make him an asset to any production: His efficient and discreet working practice ensures that pictures and audio are captured with minimal fuss, and that they serve the film always with the edit in mind. With a very strong sense of story structure and narrative through-lines, he spots problems before they become problems. Nifty and economic with scripts, he imbues complicated stories with intimacy and a sense of humour. His look is cinematic, atmospheric, emotionally provocative, and honest - neither schmaltzy nor dour. Nathan is naturally inquisitive, well-travelled, good-humoured, cooperative and fantastic with talent and contributors, mixing maturity, calm confidence, charm & wit to get great content. His experience spans broadcast and feature documentaries, corporates, commercials, and features.
